
How to Play
Movement and interactions
- Right-click : Move at the cursor location (can hold the click)
- Shift : Dash at cursor location
- F Key : Interact with highlighted (if close enough) elements
Orbs
- Q Key : Summon an Ice Orb around you
- W Key : Summon a Storm Orb around you
- E Key : Summon a Fire Orb around you
Each orb around you shoots a bolt corresponding to its element each few seconds. Ice bolts, upon hitting, heal the player. Storm bolts, upon hitting, strike another nearby monster. Fire bolts, upon hitting, does additional damage to the target.
Gold and Experience
Upon dying, monsters drop gold items : coins, emeralds... By picking up gold items, you gain both gold AND experience. Upon gaining enough experience, you gain a level. The experience you currently have is represented by the experience bar at the top.
Upon gaining a level, you will be presented three spell choices. By selecting a spell, you will either unlock it or upgrade it (depending on if you already have it or not).
A dying monster has a small chance of spawning a chest. By pressing F close enough, you'll activate the chest, which will then consumes each gold item nearby. After a few seconds, the chest will give back what it has eaten, with added value.
Hexforging
- Left click: Cast the spell corresponding to the current orb combination
To cast a spell you need to have around you the orbs corresponding to its recipe. In the bottom bar, you can see which orbs are required to cast a spell. For example, to cast the Meteor spell, you would need to have 2 fire orbs and 1 storm orb.
Each spell has its own cooldown and mana cost. Mana regenerates automatically.
Powerups
During your run, a prompt will sometime appears on the screen saying "A CRYSTAL HAS APPEARED". It means that somewhere in the level a powerup crystal has spawned. If the crystal is out of your screen, an arrow will now be in the HUD to indicate the direction of the powerup. Upon walking on it, you will gain a random bonus that will last for the entire run.
Challenges and upgrades
Upon arriving back in the lobby, you keep the gold that you gained in the previous run. You can then use it to unlock challenges in the portal menu.
The challenges are linked to a specific level and difficulty. For exemple, to unlock the challenge "Kill 100 monsters" listed at the right of the Darklands level in Easy, you would need to play in the specified level at the specified difficulty.
Once a challenge is unlocked, you have the ability to complete it in a single run. Once completed, it will be so forever, giving you a specific reward.
Crystal
Once unlocked by completing the related challenge, the crystal in the lobby will allow you to purchase upgrades (more health, speed...) that only lasts for a single run.
Developer tips
In early game, it is best to use the storm orbs to deal the maximum amount of damage.
